YOUR ENVIRONMENT AND YOUR HEALTH


 We are expose to different types of pollution by virtue of the kind of  environment we live in, the kind of activities we engage in, and also the kind of lifestyle we live. And we take in this pollutants through inhalation, physical exposure, skin contract, etc. Exposure to toxics in air, water, soil, and chemicals, are the largest environmental cause of premature death, according to the Global Alliance on Health and Pollution(GAHP).

      Some factors that can cause toxics build-up in the body, includes but not limited to; cigarettes smoking, bad eating habits, excessive alcohol consumption, taking sugary foods and drinks, lack of regular exercise, etc,        

    All these factors come with severe health implication and complications. Note that when the body is overwhelmed by these harmful substances, it leads to oxidative stress, which is a situation whereby there are more free radicals than antioxidants in the body, thereby putting strain on the detox organs, prompting them to work harder than ever, in an attempt to expel these toxics and other poisonous waste from the body.


Be informed that there are 2 sources of free radicals formation; The external generated sources also known as exogenous toxins, and the internal generated sources or endogenous toxins.  

The external generated source or exogenous toxins, means they are ingested or absorbed into the body from external sources or from the environment.

      This kind, though to some extent, we have control over them, but not entirely, as they still manage to find their way into our body.  

   Some external source of free radicals formation include; cigarette smoking, air pollutants, infections, processed foods, radiation from chemical activities and prolonged exposure to x-rays, some petroleum based products, some prescription and recreational drugs, daily stress, leaky gut, trans fatty acids, excess alcohol intake, spoiled foods, toxic chemicals and pesticides including those found in furniture polish and paints e.g.- toluene, benzene and formaldehyde, etc, and heavy metals like- chlorine, mercury, aluminum, lead, iron, cadmium, etc. 


          While the internal generated sources(endogenous toxins)   means happening  inside the tissues and cells of the of the body, infact within the lymphatic system, and they are produced as a result of imbalances in our metabolism. Examples are; mitochondria, low blood supply or lack of oxygen, peroxisomes, arachidonate, uncontrolled blood pressure, phagocytosis, Inflammation, heart attacks and strokes, anemia or other blood disease, etc.

Though, our body has ingenious ways of getting rid of free radicals and other

harmful materials, by employing the various detox organs like; the kidney, liver, digestive system, skin, and lungs, etc, only if these organs are healthy enough. 

But as the body matures over the years, it gradually loses its ability to fight free radicals, thus accumulating more of the dangerous substance in the process. This results not only free radicals accumulation, but also increased damage to the nodes lymph as well. 

           Most terminal illnesses we experience, are as a result of build up of toxins or free radicals overtime. The kidneys, the liver, heart, skin, etc, are all at the receiving end of the complications of those poisonous substances that we come across on daily basis. 

         Here are some effects of oxidative stress; Irritated skin, allergies, chronic inflammation, neurological disorders, menstrual problems, cardiovascular disease, bloating, infertility, bad breath/odor, fatigue, constipation, insomnia, craving, etc, and the various organs of the body, work  round the clock, just to keep us healthy.   

Free radicals are bad molecules with one or more unpaired electrons in atomic and molecular orbitals. Examples are; hydroxyl radicals, nitric oxide radicals, superoxide, etc.


   Note that free radicals triggers chain reactions in the body, altering proteins, lipids, and DNA that stores a person’s genetic information. It's been reputed to accelerate aging, as well results to cancer.
   
   Free radicals and toxins, are basically the same. It's when toxins get into the body system and start degenerative and destructive process, it becomes a free radical.
     
       Indeed these harmful substances, can build up in your body overtime, disrupting cellular activities in the lymphoid nodes, and causing illness. Also unhealthy diet and exposure to environmental toxins can damage the mitochondria in your cells. 
  
    That's the more reason to detox and eat healthy regularly. A healthy diet consisting of mainly fruits and veggies, can help as they contain large amount of antioxidant. So, what is an antioxidant?  They are basically molecules that can neutralize or remove free radicals from the system. They do this by donating an electron to a free radicals without making themselves unstable. That is to say they can prevent the oxidation of other molecules.    
    
      Since the body produces both free radicals and antioxidant during normal metabolic process, there's the need to have a balance between these two or the antioxidant should be more than the free radicals, to produce an alkaline environment.


The lymph runs throughout your body, the system is a network of tissues and organs that collect and convey waste, bacteria, viruses, pathogens, metabolic cellular waste, white blood cells, even cancer cells, from every tissues in your body, return them to the bloodstream and finally eliminate them through sweat, urine, bowels, etc, via the various detox organs of the body like liver, kidneys, intestines, skin, respiratory system.

    It's when this lymphatic system is overwhelmed, that's when oxidative stress occurs. Be aware that incidence of chronic disease and infections, are dependent on condition of your lymphatic system, seeing that about 99% of health issues originates from the stagnation and obstruction of this system.
  
     So detoxifying your body, not only inhibit the oxidation of molecules by neutralizing free radicals, thereby stopping them from causing cellular damage, but also helps to repair the DNA. 
  
     Some foods high antioxidants are- citrus fruits, dark chocolate, pomegranate, plums, cranberries, beets, raisins, grapefruit, blueberries, spinach, strawberries, cantaloupe, lettuce, legumes, kiwi, etc. Most antioxidant rich food, are also effective at combating these problems.



         The lymphatic system, is a very important mechanism that helps fight free radicals and other dangerous chemicals, as well as protect against accumulation of toxins and infections. It's reputed to hold about 80% of the body antioxidants benefits and power. It also act as the body sewage system, which maintains the fluid levels in your body tissues by removing all fluids that leak out of our blood vessels. It's like a full body cleanse detox mechanism.
  
   That's more reason to keep the inside of your body as alkaline as possible, because the root cause of your health and wellbeing starts here. 
          
          For the benefits of those reading this write-up, just to let you know that sulfur is another very irritating, acidic and highly inflammatory substance that you wouldn't want inside of you, thus it should be remove as quickly as possible. from irritating the eyes, nose, throat and lungs, Sulfur has been known to burn tissues and organs of the body as well, in addition to suppressing this very important body mechanism.      
 
    That's why if you already have much sulfur in your system as a result of free radicals and other toxics accumulation, you are likely to suffer from digestive distress and inflammation. Thus, taking sulfur supplements, and sulfur rich food like broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, and other cruciferous vegetables, etc, has been observed to exacerbate the condition. 


Consequently, high dose of sulfur in an already acidic body like those suffering inflammation or joint pains, unusual perspiration, body odor, chronic fatigue, arthritis, fibromyalgia, etc, would do more harm than good.
That's the more reason to get rid these toxics from your body first thing first, in order to speed up the process.
